tr3 priming the oil pump

I am about to start my 61 tr3 engine with the body off and I was priming the oil pump with a drill, does anyone know how much oil this should throw. I am using a ½ drill motor, so I think I have enough power. I have oil coming out the line at the oil gauge (gauge not hooked up and body off the frame) Is the oil suppose to actually come up through the rocker shaft or is this just going to prime the pump? How long should I run the drill? any comments appreciated.

Just run it like that until you do indeed see oil coming up out of the weep holes on top of the rocker arms. That way you are sure to have filled all the galley spaces. You might want to seal off the gauge line before starting it. That would be an interesting stream at 60 psi. If that drill turns at about 500 you're probably creating about 20 psi.
